In this interview, Dr Claire shares her insights on skin longevity, innovation in aesthetics, and why clinical credibility remains the foundation of truly exceptional skin outcomes.
Q: Please tell us a little about your clinic and your area of expertise?
“My clinic is a medical dermatology, advanced aesthetic and wellness clinic based in the city centre of Edinburgh, Scotland. I have a background of paediatric emergency medicine but I have always had a passion for dermatology being a personal sufferer of chronic skin disease as well as seeing the impact it can have on not only the physical well being of a person but the psychosocial impact of it. I personally understand the frustration of not being able to be seen or understood and when I was given the opportunity to start my own business I could not think of anything better than to try and help others. I would say my areas of speciality is managing chronic skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis as well as being unique in Scotland for my scar restoration work and medical tattooing”.
Q: What first attracted you to working with GELIDA and its range of professional devices?
“The attraction to Gelida started when I was provided with the scientific evidence supported by clinical before and after photos when I first started making enquires. Being a small clinic with no device apart from my tattoo pen I wanted to bring something that would help my target patients of chronic skin issues, be multi functional, versatile and provide amazing aesthetic results to the face and body without the use of injectables. There is no other device like it on the market and there is very little my cryo machine cannot do. Being holistic and the main driving force being your own bodies physiology as well as using natural products – my clients love it. I even combine it with injectables especially for bespoke lip augmentation and numbing (but not sure I want to share that haha).
I love how genuine and professional this company is. There is no sale chat and no pressure. I was not bombarded with sale tactics the device sold itself especially after I used it and seen the results on myself and could see the instant results. There is constant communication with no drop after the sale which can be evident from other big companies. I do not feel like a clinic – I feel like a member of the family where they are engaged in not only my clinic but my patient results!”
Q: Which GELIDA device is your favourite to work with, and why?
“I use the CRYO device and it’s the main device in my clinic despite the integration of a laser and micro needling device. I also use the Vitaderm skin care range in all my treatments. The device being portable means I can take it to the patient which is valuable for my charity work at a house in Edinburgh specialising in the care of secondary breast cancer. Many of my patients have had the go ahead from oncologists and orthopaedic surgeons for patients to go ahead with treatments. This is a requirement along with a consultation but for example where other devices would be a blanket no, the cryotherapy can
be used and provide symptomatic relief. It is easy to use and painless for the patient which also makes it lovely for patients where they will want to have it again.
Q: What GELIDA treatment do your clients ask for most often – and what do they love about it?
“I think the most liked treatment is skin tightening and lifting facial. This is amazing as part of a block of treatment or also used as a once off. I work with lots of brides and this is very popular before the big day! It leaves their skin feeling flawless for the big day.
Q: Do you have a personal favourite GELIDA treatment to perform, and what makes it stand out to you?
“I think my favourite to perform is inflammation or muscle relieving treatments as you can see patients arrive in pain with reduced range of movement. During their treatment you can see the range of movement increase and the pain subside. It is really easy to use and the treatments are quick meaning you can really make a huge difference to the patient in one treatment session.”
Q: What advice would you give to other clinics considering introducing GELIDA technology into their practice?
“I would say go for it. There is always anxiety over taking a new device in to the clinic but with the Gelida technology and science you will have something bespoke which you can tailor to your clinic needs.. The customer service is incredible as well as the aftercare, training and overall communication. The results speak for themselves and your clients will love it.”
Q. Are there any standout client success stories you’ve seen with GELIDA treatments that you’re proud of?
“I have had lots of really successful patient stories but one which stands out is with one of my wonderful patients with secondary breast cancer. Unfortunately she had very painful acne where she was restricted with what she could use and her confidence was low as she felt her skin was so angry and inflamed she did not want to go out. After consent from her oncology team, with one treatment she had instant relief. Using the 21 range and Vitaderm products she had a huge improvement in her symptoms with almost complete resolution with three further facials.”

Q. Finally, what’s one skincare or treatment tip you always share with your clients?
“Always feed the skin overnight and protect during the day. Always use SPF – preferably Vitaderm SPF 50!”
